Tai-Heng Cheng Testifies as an Expert Witness in a $500 Million SCC Arbitration

In October 2011, Tai-Heng Cheng provided expert witness testimony in a $500 million investor-state arbitration before the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.   Mr. Cheng’s expert report and testimony dealt with a wide spectrum of international law issues, including matters relating to choice-of-law, international law standards governing investor-state relations, statutes of limitations, and evidentiary norms applicable to international arbitral proceedings.  At the conclusion of his oral testimony, the Chairman of the Panel remarked on the record: “You gave an eloquent, very interesting, and stimulating assessment….An impressive account you gave, thank you so much.”  In commenting on Mr. Cheng’s written report, the Chairman further remarked, “You have written up an excellent opinion, I would say.  I did not come across anything here with which I would disagree.”
