In a key procedural vote, the Senate failed to advance the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill aimed to reduce the gender pay gap and combat pay discrimination against women and LGBTQ workers. Amory spoke with Law360 about the news, noting, “the revised language around the Paycheck Fairness Act’s ‘factor other than sex’ defense will discourage frivolous lawsuits by providing plaintiff's lawyers more guidance for evaluating potential claims before pursuing litigation.”

While critics of the Paycheck Fairness Act believe it would “significantly erode employer defenses for legitimate pay disparities,” Amory thinks the bill “might actually provide employers with a better roadmap on how to avoid gender pay discrimination.” You can read the full piece in Law360 here.
