Dorothea Regal Named to Crain’s New York Business’ Notable Diverse Leaders in Law List
New York, NY—July 11, 2022—Hoguet Newman Regal & Kenney, LLP founding partner Dorothea Regal has been named to Crain’s New York Business’ 2022 Notable Diverse Leaders in Law list. This award honors top law professionals from underrepresented groups who have made an impact in New York in the types of cases handled, clients won, and/or pro bono work.
As a founding partner of HNRK and head of the firm’s Insurance Recovery Litigation & Counseling practice, Dorothea has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for her policyholder clients. She is regularly sought out to handle complex and valuable insurance coverage disputes in international and U.S. arbitration and litigation.
Dorothea plays a vital role in the management of HNRK, which was founded over 25 years ago as a women-owned litigation boutique. She is a champion of, and example to, diverse lawyers, and has consistently mentored the firm’s interns, associates, and younger partners—both male and female. Dorothea was instrumental in establishing the firm’s policy, even before the COVID-19 pandemic, of flexible hours and work locations, creating an environment where all the firm’s attorneys can maintain a thriving work-life balance.
Among many other organizations, Dorothea is active in the ABA’s Women in Insurance Network and the Women’s Leadership Circle of Brooklyn Law School, a program aimed at advancing women lawyers in their careers.
This award is the latest in a string of recent recognition for Dorothea. Over the past year, she has been named the Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyer of the Year by Euromoney, a Distinguished Leader by the New York Law Journal, and a Notable Woman Business Owner and Women in Law by Crain’s New York Business. She has also been honored as an Elite Boutique Trailblazer by The National Law Journal, a Local Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation, and a New York Metro Super Lawyer in the area of Insurance Coverage.
