Overview

Connor Shea is an experienced litigator who routinely handles employment, tort, commercial, insurance recovery, asset recovery, and securities disputes.  He has achieved favorable outcomes on dispositive motions and in jury and bench trials and has experience at all phases of litigation in federal and New York state courts, administrative proceedings, and arbitrations.  He also frequently conducts effective and efficient internal investigations in advance of or as an alternative to litigation and has successfully settled numerous matters outside of court.  He advises and counsels individual and institutional clients across a wide range of industries, including public transportation, construction, insurance policyholders, hospitality, media, and financial services. 

Prior to joining Hoguet Newman Regal & Kenney in 2023, Connor was a litigation associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP and Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. where he represented individuals and institutional clients in a variety of complex litigation matters.  Connor currently serves as a member of the Employment Law Litigation and Privacy, Data Security and Information Technology Litigation Committees of the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Association. 

Representative Experience

Representative Experience

  • Obtained dismissal of all claims brought against a public transportation agency in connection with a widely publicized terrorist attack carried out on their premises.
  • Obtained pre-suit settlement of claims brought against a public agency in connection with a decades-long sentence served by a wrongfully convicted murder suspect. 
  • Obtained pre-discovery settlement of First Amendment religious discrimination claims on behalf of a public agency.
  • Ongoing defense of a public agency in connection with allegations by a former employee that their termination violated the First Amendment. 
  • Secured the closing of an SEC investigation into a biotechnology company without any further action.
  • Secured a unanimous jury verdict in New York State Supreme Court on behalf of an investment banker client after a decade-long battle with his former fiancée over an investment property.
  • Performed internal investigations for various public sector entities and companies in the financial services, manufacturing, and biotechnology industries.
  • Represented pro bono multiple federal criminal defendants through the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel and successfully argued in federal court for outpatient drug treatment in lieu of sentencing on charges of violating parole and probation. 
  • Represented pro bono clients seeking humanitarian parole through U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
  • Represented pro bono clients seeking temporary restraining orders for gender-related violence.
